Like going to the gym.....

(Angelina Norton)

Heathrow airport central bus station, Christmas 2008. It was the year of the fog surrounding London and a lot of incoming and outbound flights were delayed or cancelled, plus late. My flight from Sicily was late, therefore I missed my bus home and was lucky enough to catch the next one, so, I grabbed a coffee at central bus station, waiting for the bus. A guy in the queue in front of me, started to talk to me and and we put the world to rights' for a few hours, as he was travelling to Scotland and I was headed too Somerset. I think if I hadn't been so reserved, I think this man would asked me for a drink, although he had originally come from Australia, as it was though, we said our goodbyes and that was that! Anyway, I wrote this song a few days after, thinking about if he had asked me out and the anticipation of a first date, but knowing it was a lot more than that and where would it lead?? Think sixties do-wop 'Do run run' type mixed up with "Christmas wrapping' by the Waitresses.

I met him at the airport one Christmas. Wasn't expecting him to fancy me. Been feeling like the chief of singletons. Been listening to too much Abba you see. He asked for my number just like straight off. And I gave it him very cynically. I didn't hear from him for a while. But he phoned me in the new year. What he had to say made me smile. He wanted to see me that's clear. Help! Help! I've got a hot date. What do I do with it? Chorus: A new date, oh what's wrong with me? A bit like going to the gym. A hot date, oh what's up with me? It's just like going to the gym. Like joining a new gym. (gym, gym, gym) 'Cos I don't exercise you see. He asked me if he could send me an email. And I meekly agreed to keep in touch. My PC's hard-drive's slower than a snail. It's just like a big bucket of red rust. He probably thought I wouldn't reply. It took longer than he'd been dreaming of. Help! Help! He's asked me on a date. What do I do with it? Repeat Chorus. I didn't hear from him for a while. But he phoned me in the new year. What he had to say made me smile. He wanted to see me that's clear. Help! Help! I've got a hot date. What do I do with it? Repeat Chorus twice.

Am Ende des Tages

By Olaf Zeiger

Danke.
