Jamie's Song

(Joyce Trudeau)

The most poignant of songs are generated out of the most emotional life experiences. I'm afraid that is the case with this song. I give people a box of tissues when I let them read this song. But I'm told that sad songs stimulate the same area of the brain as happy ones, actually making us feel better. Writing this was certainly a cathartic experience for me.

Ten tiny fingers grabbed my heart A perfect child – but for his tiny broken heart In him we had so many dreams Losing him wasn't part of our scheme I begged to understand the reason Dropped to my knees and prayed to Jesus For the little boy with the broken heart Whose broken heart tore ours apart I wiped the tears from my eyes And kissed the baby boy goodbye I walked away from him – away from God And reviled the God who left my side CHORUS Jamie, I am on my way I'll get there and when I do I'll find a road back to you The path is lined with my heartstrings And the flight of angels' wings If I will see you in the by and by Then I won't be afraid to die My life will never be the same As it was before the angels came For the joy of loving there's a price to be paid We paid in full with our pain Into my life the darkness crept So many times I have wept Just as there's an end to night At the end of darkness there comes light Perhaps in time I'll change my view And wonder if what is said is true That God has a grander plan One that we don't understand CHORUS Jamie, I am on my way I'll get there and when I do I'll find a road back to you The path is lined with my heartstrings And the flight of angels' wings If I will see you in the by and by Then I won't be afraid to die Did the Heavens mend your broken heart So you can make a brand new start? Did angels teach you how to fly So you can frolic with them in the sky? I never held you in my arms But I was enchanted by your charms Whose arms reach for you from the clouds? Darling, we all long to know - who holds you now? CHORUS Jamie, I am on my way I'll get there and when I do I'll find a road back to you The path is lined with my heartstrings And the flight of angels' wings If I will see you in the by and by Then I won't be afraid to die

Standing My Ground

By Joyce Trudeau

If you ever had trouble defending your point of view in an argument, no matter how strong your conviction, then this song is for you. It's a very resolute song so it should be paired with resolute music with conviction. These lyrics could be adapted to different styles - rap, pop, classic rock. The chorus could be used as something inspirational - such as in a commercial. It's a song about standing up for your beliefs, doing what is right and improving the world and its people.

Can we use another song about crying in your tequila when your spouse leaves you? I think there is always room for one more. I love this man's blatant honesty that there will be tears.
