This song is about the Plymouth Road Runner, one of the biggest and baddest muscle cars from the late 1960s and early 1970s. My dad had a blue 1970 Plymouth Road Runner convertible, which is a highly sought after collectors item nowadays.
This lyric is about a guy who is unhappy with the direction of his life, but try as he may, he is unable to correct the course, and he finally realizes he’s on a downhill slope and might be coming to the end of the road.
This song is about serious, die-hard punk rock devotees who don’t want to hear anything else except their favorite, particular genre of music. There is a song called “White Punks On Dope” by The Tubes. Thought I’d rearrange the title and write my own lyrics for a different song.
