Verse 1 Me and Kimberley, we've worked hard for our pay. We've had good jobs and pay but good jobs can die away. She had to go part - time or lose her job or so they say. I lost my job through lack of demand the very next day. The bank's your friend till they give you a final demand. We couldn't pay the mortgage, so the house was out of our hands. Verse 2 The unions wanted their dues i owed weeks before. They're no better than the bosses', talk about class - war. We've worked hard but the system gives and takes away. And we've got an apartment - with baby Rosie on the way. There's damp on the walls - so we've moved into her pararent's house. Coz, this is what you have to do when your luck is out! Chorus 1 Me and Kimberley, And baby Rosie too, We're fighting for our future, And we're gonna come through. Verse 3 We face the future, we've gotta make it bright. We take comfort in each other and Rosie gives us light. We'll be a strong family to give us a chance. And in time we'll think about having another family house. We must stay strong and not let our lives fall fully apart. We must somehow get back good things we had at the start. Chorus 2 AS 1 Bridge 1 It could happen to you It happened to me, Lose your good job And the good life is history. Chorus 3 Me and Kimberley, And baby Rosie too, We're fighting for our future, And we're gonna come through, Breathing every breath of air To take us there. Outro: Me and Kimberley and baby Rosie too. Thank you for your interest

By Peter Lastima

A road song, possibly in need of a wistful country tune. The traveller comes to yet another town, yearns to say, but knows it is their fate to keep heading on down the road. This draws upon road-trips in America years ago - small towns, motels, bars - but could apply just as well to any of the three other continents across which I have made sporadic and poorly-planned expeditions.

By Nadine Schulze
