Who We Are Today

(Brian Hendrix)

This is more of an inspirational song, a message to people that we all have things in our past that we undoubtedly regret, but we are capable of change. So let's stop focusing on who we used to be, and focus more on the who we are today.

Maybe you didn't wanna be tied down And so you decided to run around And a broke a heart or few there in your wake Or maybe you hurt some, some other way Might have made some lives fall out of place We've all done things that we'd like to change (Chorus) We all have a past Spend our time lookin' back Making sure that it ain't close behind And we try to move on March ahead and keep on goin' But who we were still lingers in our minds So, now's the time to stop the fight Against retreating waves And focus on the who we are today Maybe you broke laws, did some time And the damage done has left you tryin' To make amends for them, and save your soul Or maybe you just didn't treat them right And now it keeps you awake at night We must all keep drivin', once we pay the toll (Chorus) (Bridge) To change is the important thing To grow and love, to fly and soar So if you're better now than yesterday It's time to let go of that before (Chorus)

If You Leave Me

By Brian Hendrix

For the first part of 2021 here, I've really been stuck in a very classic-country phase in my writing. Not intentional; it's just the way they're coming out. So this is one in a style that you might expect to hear on the radio in the '50s. It's basically just a guy's rhetorical note to his woman, reminding her that she loves him and shouldn't leave him.

It's Not So Bad

By Brian Hendrix

This is definitely more in the vein of a Hank Williams-style country song. It's basically a guy realizing that his broken heart isn't so bad after all. In fact, he might even be better off without that sort of strife in his life.

Callous Heart

By Brian Hendrix

Old-school, traditional country song about a guy who's finding it near impossible to get over a girl who just ran out on him. Probably easy enough to work in reverse too, with a couple of pronoun changes.

Closer to You

By Brian Hendrix

Song about a guy who really wants to be close to a girl he likes, and he's willing to do anything it takes to get him closer. A fun, alliterative, relatively short song, a little uptempo.

The Futurist

By Ari Wilde

This song is inspired by the art movement Futurism where artists wanted to do things that had never been done before. It's about how we can change the society we live in with our art.
