Dance with me, Katie

(Christopher Van Name)

A young Irishman dreams of his love, Katie, the night before he is to be hanged for treason during The Insurrection. Lying in his cell in Kilmainham Gaol, he sings out, recalling the first time they met, as the sounds of rebellion drift into the darkness of DublinTown.

Well the first time I saw her She was down in the meadow Her waist deep in clover Her skin white as snow She was soft as a whisper Like the wind through the willow Her hair shone like heather As the sun slipped 'neath the valley below 'Cross the river I waded As the moon cast its shadow In the twilight she waited Her face all aglow As the evening light faded The stars in her eyes glowed Our souls were then fated To each other, forever bestowed Won't you dance with me, Katie? Oh, dance with me, Katie Please dance with me, Katie While the band plays one slow "In my arms, let me hold you", I remember I told you Won't you dance with me Katie? You're the one love I know Now the snow paints the valley There's a hush in the meadow And the first time I kissed you Was a lifetime ago When I waded that river And we lay 'neath the willow I knew at that moment Oh how I knew, I would never let go Won't you dance with me, Katie? Oh, dance with me, Katie Please dance with me, Katie While the band plays one slow In my arms, I'll embrace you I could never replace you Won't you dance with me, Katie? Let's be sure to dance slow Now my time's growing nearer I hear your voice in the meadow Still soft as a whisper Like the wind through our willow... Won't you dance with me, Katie? Oh, dance with me, Katie Please dance with me, Katie While the band plays one slow In my arms, I will hold you With my heart, I have told you Please dance with me, Katie Before I must go Oh, dance with me, Katie Please dance with me, Katie Won't you dance with me, Katie How I do love you so

Sky Blue

By Christopher Van Name

Watching a beautiful day end. A sense of loss as the blue sky gives way to dusk. Like a new love, when you part, even though you know you'll see each other soon, self-doubt and insecurity sets in. Dreamy Blues.

World of Men

By Christopher Van Name

Hard to believe what a mess we've made of this world. Our environment abused, over used and taken for granted. Personal and religious freedom challenged every day. Racial and gender inequality and discrimination. Greed, avarice, hate and violence promoted by the insecure and power hungry. Lies, the language of the day. The world of men. Imagine a world where love and respect are the norm? Where the norm is realizing and recognizing that we are all different. A world that celebrates those differences. Where the only weapon we have available is listening and communicating openly with one another. Where everyone is accepted and treated respectfully and given the same opportunity to speak up. To aspire to be the best they can be. To reach as far and as high as they can without fear and oppression. Sounds like Shangra-La. It could be.

Now I know you're free

By Christopher Van Name

Living with the loss of loved ones. It's always difficult to put such loss into perspective. To grieve. To celebrate a lost life. To learn to go and live your own life. To answer all the questions. Was that person happy in their own life? Were their dreams fulfilled? Is there life after death? Where does one's spirit go when they leave this earth? Eternal questions with no answers. I guess it all comes down to one's faith and how they deal with life and death. - For Penny and Gail

North Wind

By Christopher Van Name

Autumn. Chill in the air. A time of aging. New things wear old, flowers dry up and fade away, leaves fall and hearts break. The cold winter looms ahead. The North Wind blows the winter hard and cold. The winter blues can take a good love down.

Dreaming Out the Door

By Izzy Douma

This song contemplates the feeling of being stuck inside of one's mind, whilst using the analogy of dreaming out of a door, waiting for rescue. The verses and the bridge of this song are meant to be rap, while the choruses and tag are meant to be a part of a melody. The song gives a dark, dreamy attitude and abbreviates the longing for a deep connection with the outside world. Enjoy!
