Grew up in rural Mississippi
Never noticed by the boys
Hey, honey we can't eat tonight
we really have no money
At night we stole some corn
and other veggies too
At fourteen I had blossomed
The body,legs and looks
now noticed by the boys
I won the County beauty contest
Entered for the State
Miss Mississippi I was crowned
USA the next in line
The agents tried to cheat me
I'm much too smart for them
I came from next to nothing
Not going back again
I thought I met a nice guy
turned out like all the rest
Looking for a free ride
sent him on his way
He also liked to stray
Met through a friend
he bowled me over
Tall and handsome too
It's going well
you sure can tell
I think I found a nice guy
Back to my roots
to teach the young girls
how to deal with life
They may be poor
have mental strength
I am so proud of them
