Window

(Howard Aronson)

This is a short lyric, and I would repeat the verses over again. It's about being stood up, which is something we all can relate to. When this happens it's not a very good feeling. In this case, the guy gets stood up and finally leaves only to see his date to the window of another restaurant with someone else. I think that's pretty bold, and lame for someone to do. But to do it in a place that was so close to where the meeting was supposed to take place, it's just outrageous. This is a made-up story, nothing like this ever happened to me, in the few times that I was stood up.

How could you let me stay there waiting for you You don't answer my calls, Or my texts I don't know what to do I waited for an hour, and left the bar Little did I know I wouldn't get very far I saw you through the window With someone else I saw you through the window with someone else Why did you have to be so cruel And treat me like a fool 45 and still playing games To me, that's fucking lame I saw you through the window with someone else I saw you through the window with someone else

Out of me

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is not about me or my father, it's about a friend whose father used to feed him all the time when we were growing up. I didn't understand this, as I had so much love in my family and I don't think my parents ever hit me once. Yeah they would raise their voice and yell, and try to teach me lessons and other ways when I was wrong. But my friend experienced such a hard life growing up, but today is one of the most gentle people you could ever imagine. He's married with kids, and there's no comparison to the way his father treated him the way he treats his children. I think it's a shame what people do to their kids when they treat them with abusive behavior. That's what this lyric is about, abusive behavior.

Grateful

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about gratitude. It's something that I really focus on daily. It's very important when you're clean and sober to be grateful on a daily basis. There are so many things to be grateful for, but first and foremost I'm grateful to be so over today. That in and of itself is a miracle. I'm so used to dealing with life by numbing it and pushing it away. For so long I've lacked the proper copic skills, and the only way I coped was using drugs and alcohol. Although I've had many different lengths of sobriety, these last three years have been really different for me living in a sober house with 24 other people has helped me to be more aware of what I'm grateful for on a daily basis. It's helped me to learn how to cope with life on life's terms and not thinking about using a drink or a drug to get by. It helps me remember when times were really tough, and how I put myself in those situations. Today I'm just so grateful, for so many things.

17 Again

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is a tribute to Nirvana, and written the way they wrote many songs. Doesn't have a lot of lyrics, they're very repetitive, but it's meant to be that way. Kurt Cobain wrote a lot of songs this way, and I really admired can not having to use a lot of different words to get the point across. I didn't have sex until I was 18 and I had graduated high school. All my friends were having sex, but I was so naive, and a little bit tentative when it came to women I remember going out with a girl, we went to where everybody goes parking, and I just sat there, I didn't even try to kiss her. We never went out again, and later in life I found out when I was talking to her on facebook, that she thought I didn't like her. In reality I did, but I was just too scared to show her any affection. Maybe I held her hand once or something like that. So this lyric is about when I was 17

The man

By Howard Aronson

This is a lyric about a rock and roll star who's trying to resurrect his career later in life. He still believes he can "the man". But he realizes once he is in the position to be the man, he can't do it. It's sad to see, but he knows the reality of the situation. He never did it for the notoriety or the for the money, he did it for the fans. But he knows that he can't perform the way he used to or wants to, and that would be a disservice to his fans. Now that he knows his career is pretty much over he packs his bags and doesn't have any destination at all.

Broken Lullaby

By Karlo Čavlović

A broken lullaby is a metaphor for the voices in our heads telling us that we are not enough and that our life is meaningless. The lullaby symbolically tries to put you to sleep, but sleep, in this sense, is neverending. Our everyday demons try to make us believe that our sadness is forever, even though it isn't.
