Paragon

(Melanie Thompson)

Paragon is a good person. And as we all known even good people sometimes find themselves in dangerous situations. With these lyrics, my purpose was to attempt to show that whatever your situation is, no matter how bad things are, there is always someone in a worse situation.

Chorus. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Riding on her riverboat she'll later float to everyone. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Taking notes. Her antidotes she'll later quote to anyone. Verse 1. River Nile, a crocodile crashed into her riverboat. Bigger than the biggest man. And thicker than the thickest post. Traumatized, she improvised. Glued on a smile to win the bloke. He just grinned. Whipped his tail. Tossed out the words lodged in his throat. "Paragon, I've seen you here. I've watched you ride your river boat. Unaware the danger there." He pointed to the sandy coast. On the coast a lion sat. Meaner than the meanest cat. In his mouth a little lamb. Sweeter than the sweetest jam. Chorus. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Riding on her riverboat she'll later float to everyone. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Taking notes. Her antidotes she'll later quote to anyone. Verse 2. Amazon, a drifting log. And on that log a boa snake. Straighter than the straightest strand. And smoother than the smoothest lace. Hypnotized, she improvised. Blew a kiss to charm the snake. He just stared. Debonair. Hissing words with poise and grace. "Paragon, I've seen you here. I've watched you ride your riverboat. Unaware the danger there." He pointed to the muddy coast. On the coast a heavy ape. Heavier than any weight. In his grip a tiny pig. Thinner than the thinnest twig. Chorus. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Riding on her riverboat she'll later float to everyone. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Taking notes. Her antidotes she'll later quote to anyone. verse 3. Russia's Lena, barracuda swam up to her riverboat. Stronger than the strongest dam. And grayer than the grayest ghost. Mesmerized, she improvised. Threw a line to lure the fish. He just squirmed. Ate the worm. Splashed the words with one good swish. "Paragon, I've seen you here. I've watched you ride your riverboat. Unaware the danger there." He pointed to the rocky coast. On the coast a scary bear. Scarier than any snare. In his claws a fawny deer. Sadder than the saddest tear. Chorus. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Riding on her riverboat she'll later float to everyone. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Taking notes. Her antidotes she'll later quote to anyone. Verse 4. Yellow River, water dragon lifted up her riverboat. Quicker than the quickest snap. And higher than the highest slope. Terrorized, she improvised. Drew her sword to kill the beast. He just laughed. Opened wide. Picked out the words stuck in his teeth. "Paragon, I've seen you here. I've watched you ride your riverboat. Unaware the danger there." He pointed to the soggy coast. On the coast a tiger raced. Faster than the fastest pace. Out in front a wounded quail. Slower than the slowest snail. Chorus. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Riding on her riverboat she'll later float to everyone. Paragon goes on and on and on and on goes Paragon. Taking notes. Her antidotes she'll later quote to anyone.

Seven Flowers

By Melanie Thompson

What's in your garden? These lyrics name seven types of flowers. All seven can be found in nature. If you are an admirer of nature, you may recognize some of these names. I thought it would be interesting to give these flowers agendas. I tried to match each flower's name with a hot-topic social issue.

Genius

I will be the first to say that I'm not the brightest bulb in the ceiling. But I have learned that hate corrodes. It harms others as well as myself. As I get older, it gets clearer. We need more love in this world. I hope these lyrics show that our ability to empathize and accept others is more valuable than any educational trophies we may have collected throughout our lives.

Will-O'-the-Wisp

By Melanie Thompson

Happy Halloween. This October has had some very scary days. We have mass shootings. We have war. We have in-fighting amongst the populous. Everyone seems to have a bone to pick. When I was little, I enjoyed Halloween. The costumes. The free candy. The decorations. It was fun. This Halloween not so much. Will-o'-the-Wisp is a deceiver. He is an evil that seems to be everywhere. These lyrics unmask him.
