Selfmade Prisons

(Neels Brand)

We're so enslaved to our devices everyday, or out of touch with that inner-child... and honestly, a smile costs nothing. Just a feel good lyric about more time away from our black screen overlords. LOL!!

V1: Everything is always so serious I get it, the world is a mess But in between the mean machines And creeps that feed on your bad dreams There's sugar, spice n all things nice As long as you can pay the price V2: Now I ain't talkin partying hard or smoking stash I ain't judging, just thinking about all of that cash When there are so much to do that's totally free Like, when was the last time you climbed a tree Or jumped from the roof with selfmade wings you thought cool And ended up goin viral as you plunged in the pool Chorus The world is a dark dark ride But it's up to us to find that slide To turn those frowns upside down Or wait your turn as we all drown V3: You don't have to be the dopest DJ You don't have to always do a back flip You don't have to have the coolest style All you have to do is make people smile And that shit's easy for all you and me Just smile and allow yourself to be free V4: We're not in a cage these days, but even together everyone's alone Cause you can't let go of the stupid-assed phone Black mirrors can be cool, let's just don't blow all our fuses Let's be honest, it's a handheld cage, even though it has a million uses Yes I guess I'm just another schmuck who said we use tech as a crutch But let's all remember that 4k is nice, but it does not allow you to touch

No Great Epiphony, Just Euphony

By Neels Brand

Began writing this lyric about how Neil Degrasse Tyson once spoke about how language is actually impeding us and getting in the way of progress by forcing us to put out feelings and ideas into words that already exist. I simply took it one humble step further by proposing that souns and music itself could serve to "help" eleviate this problem. I feel kind of silly cause, you know, he is the "rock star of science", but I meant every word. It also occured to me, by the end, that I was not thinking of those who are deaf, or struggle with hearing related problems. I deeply apologise if my lyrics came across as insensitive in any way. I am just so tired of a world full of darkness, hatred, war, famine... and if I am to say something, I should start somewhere. P, ease forgive me.

Connected To The Source

By Neels Brand

Forgive me, I went freeflow, limitations of language and such... a little philosohpy... but so much... i don't know how to drscribe it, but we are all connected to the source somehow... I know I sound crazy when I say things like that, but I'd rather that than not say them at all. Also, there's a hitchiker's guide to the galaxy half mentioned, more like a tribute, but I syraight up mentioned a song that I feel a strong connection too, and also a strong connecrion that EVERYBODY should watch that Youtube song: Kriill - My Eyes Will I Ever

Voices

By Neels Brand

This song is about voices that have manifested in my mind. At first it was only a week or 3. It all started 11 years ago, right about the time the brain initiutive started, and I just happehed to be in Hymen City at that time, a city known for its ecnredible technolohical advances, and that was also the first time I heard the voices). Now maybe they have ties to South Africa, and they pick they're targets well. Anybody with any pree-existing mentak condition, which means 25% of humanity. Add to that reacreational drug use and the percentage drastically drops. I have had to live with them never shutting up for a full year recently, do you know what that is like when in the "real world" you have a psychotic that has it in for you, smears your name, lies about you being aggressive, yet he us the one ever to puch me a shiner, through my broken glassess. He even pushed by mype in my ckassroom one day about money i do not owe him, thank God no kids were around, 1st thing I did was dop my broom to the floor when I saw he was trying to steal my phone, I took it back, the was the usual 2 mebpn hardly poshing each other around, he then damages his arm takes photos and claims... wait for it... I attacked him with the broomstick! What a lying miacreant piece of shit must you be to be that much of a pschopath. My point being, beween the experiment ("voices"), COVID19, no full time job because of this psycho, and then deeking with all the plethora of shit that comes my way from this hidious madman,.

Here in the Hollers

By Brian Hendrix

I wrote this chorus years ago, about growing up in mountain hollers in the Appalachia, a world away from where the vast majority of people grow up. Most people can't even picture what life was like there. I didn't write the verses until all this civil unrest started, and people who live in my neck of the woods started to get blamed for things that have nothing to do with us. So, yeah, this song has a political meaning, but I worded it in a way that it's not very overt or polarizing. It's a true story about Mrs. Johnson losing her land and John finding God and people laughing at him, and the government tearing down all our land and blocking our water, while at the same time taking more away from us saying we owe things to other people for things we never did. "Bear" and "Oak" are the name of holler communities, by the way.

Like Me

By Izzy Douma

As you watch a person of interest, you are overcome with a longing to be noticed by him/her. “Like Me” narrates the actions of wishful thinking, hope, and the thought of feeling insignificant to the desired person of interest.
