(1st Verse)
You get a shiver just remembering them
Let alone having to hear them play again
But just now....
...West of the Derwent River
There's going to be an awful din
A band is going to slaughter music
But you'll feel much better...
When they stop all the murdering!
(2nd Verse)
So you go inside
But you don't see many faces
Nobody twice wants to have to suffer that sound
There's no competition when it comes to killing music
And too quickly, the last tune, can never come around
(3rd Verse)
Check out Banjo Joe!
Open G is the only chord he knows
Plus he can never, ever
Keep in time or sing
And Pete doesn't mind his ukalele's out of tune...
...He's always been tone deaf!
And now he's busy just trying to keep up
Both right and left!
And as for Henry on the piano, he's particularly awesome
Cos he can make that thing sound just like the late Les Dawson
God! It really can make your ears ring!!
Listening to the Pharaohs...The Pharaohs of Ping!
(4th Verse)
Just then a guy at the bar
Drunk and staggering, shouts:
"Do ya want some help to sing?"
And someone replies...
..."The Pharoahs!!...The Pharoahs need help with every bloody thing!!"
And just as you think music couldn't stoop lower
Arthur, playing the wrong key harp!
Blows-in with an extended solo!
(Last Verse)
And then the man stood up to the microphone
And says, at last, just as you've lost the will to live
"Goodnight, now it's time to go home!"
And then, just as if to really rub it in
He says proudly "We are the Pharaohs...
...We are the Pharaohs of Ping!!"
