Loved for Real

(Brian Hendrix)

As a southern man, a lot of what I looked up to in life growing up were cowboys. I always have possessed sort of a cowboy-like persona about my life, and particularly in my writing. This song is about all those different sorts of men a woman could love, but loving a cowboy is the best choice she's going to make.

A doctor could love ya Give you a long life And a lawyer could care But you're argue all night While a politician just lies And he cheats, he schemes, and he steals A businessman's rich and wise Knows all about a-loan And a soldier seems good But he might not come home But there's a cowboy for you If you wanna be loved for real (Chorus) So saddle up, baby Let's put on our spurs And ride through these canyons On ponies, his and hers Let's rustle 'em up, and lead the herd home Hold tight to each other, so we're never alone If you're looking for something that's some way to heal Then choose a cowboy, baby, if you wanna be loved for real A teacher could school ya But, Lord, he just won't learn And a fireman might heat up So much you'll get burned And a policeman seems noble But his suspicion keeps you on your heels A plumber fixes leaks But ain't built for the flood A farmer sews what he reaps Might not be good enough But there's a cowboy for you If you wanna be loved for real (Chorus x2)

Who We Are Today

By Brian Hendrix

This is more of an inspirational song, a message to people that we all have things in our past that we undoubtedly regret, but we are capable of change. So let's stop focusing on who we used to be, and focus more on the who we are today.

If You Leave Me

By Brian Hendrix

For the first part of 2021 here, I've really been stuck in a very classic-country phase in my writing. Not intentional; it's just the way they're coming out. So this is one in a style that you might expect to hear on the radio in the '50s. It's basically just a guy's rhetorical note to his woman, reminding her that she loves him and shouldn't leave him.

It's Not So Bad

By Brian Hendrix

This is definitely more in the vein of a Hank Williams-style country song. It's basically a guy realizing that his broken heart isn't so bad after all. In fact, he might even be better off without that sort of strife in his life.

Callous Heart

By Brian Hendrix

Old-school, traditional country song about a guy who's finding it near impossible to get over a girl who just ran out on him. Probably easy enough to work in reverse too, with a couple of pronoun changes.

The Futurist

By Ari Wilde

This song is inspired by the art movement Futurism where artists wanted to do things that had never been done before. It's about how we can change the society we live in with our art.
