Reborn along this skyway You could feel your spirit fly Every morning as you watched the mountains rise And when the sun broke through the early mist You could see it in your eyes The gratitude that comes from being alive Every day you felt the blessing Of an endless, open sky On its ridges blue, you found the strength to climb And in the star filled nights you saw the truth It was then you realized This is where your soul was meant to live and die So you walked the trails you thought would lead To the peace you sought within Hoping every path you chose would be the one And as you watched an eagle soar above The clear blue mountain lake You could feel your dreams take off and touch the sun And I know why Blue Ridge Mornings make me cry Like the mist that hugs the mountains I see you in their skies And though forever they will haunt me Whenever they roll by I know all your dreams came true Blue Ridge Mornings never die Now the heavens roll across the pines As the mountains say goodbye To the best of you as you make your final climb And every time I hear the wind blow Through the wild canyon hole I think of you and all the times you tried And now I know why Blue Ridge Mornings make me cry Like the mist that hugs the mountains I’ll always see you in their skies And though forever they will haunt me Whenever they roll by I’ll know all your dreams came true Whenever they roll by I’ll be with you Blue Ridge Mornings never die Blue Ridge Mornings never die Blue Ridge Mornings never die

The Embrace

By Christopher Van Name

Inspired by Hank Willis Thomas’s bronze sculpture, “The Embrace”, which was installed on Boston Commons in Boston, Massachusetts, US last year. It depicts the four arms intertwined, symbolizing the hug that Dr. Martin Luther King and his wife, Coretta Scott King, shared after he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. I tried to imagine the emotions that Dr. King might have been feeling.

Unbroken

I continue to be amazed and inspired by the courage and perseverance of the Ukrainian people. Fighting and dying, Street by street, yard by yard, on their homeland for the right to self-determination and the very freedom we take for granted. I shouldn’t be surprised. I married one! For my wife, Adela, and the gallant people of Ukraine and the late Richard D. Hanusey, EdD.

Misunderstood

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about my struggles with ADHD. It's something I've had since I was diagnosed at 3 years old. I've been on and off medication for it both legally and with cocaine if you want to call that medication, illegally. ADHD is very challenging to live with. It affects your everyday life, you're interpersonal relationships, and your ability to focus, and think before you act. But there's so many good things about being ADHD. Most people with ADHD are very creative and can be very successful, such as Einstein. If you have the ability to hyperfocus on positive things instead of negative things you could turn your ADHD into an asset. For me it's been bittersweet, as I've used my ADHD to be successful, but also to have it play a part in my downfall. I hope you like this lyric.
