[Verse] Black dust in my lungs I can’t shake it The sun’s just a rumor underground Pickaxe swinging where the shadows break it The echoes whisper they’re the only sound [Chorus] Kentucky gold buried deep in the stone A man trades his breath for a house and a loan The earth takes her share till there’s nothing to own Kentucky gold feels colder than bone [Verse 2] I’ve seen daylight in the shape of my child Her laugh like a breeze through the pines I’ve heard the coal seams groan and grow wild They say it’s a living but it’s stealing our time [Prechorus] And the canary stopped singing While the gears kept spinning [Chorus] Kentucky gold buried deep in the stone A man trades his breath for a house and a loan The earth takes her share till there’s nothing to own Kentucky gold feels colder than bone [Bridge] I dream of rivers that run clear and wide But my boots stay stuck in this dark mountainside I dream of a life where my back doesn’t bend But I wake to the rumble of the mines again

Voice Inside My Head

By Derek Carter

“Voice Inside My Head” is a high-intensity lyric that captures the overwhelming pressure of intrusive thoughts and inner turmoil. With relentless repetition and explosive frustration, it portrays a mind under siege—sarcastic, accusatory, and impossible to silence. The lyric builds into a chaotic battle against one’s own thoughts, where every moment of quiet becomes torture and every breath feels like a fight for control. Raw, energetic, and brutally honest, this is a gripping look at mental warfare from the inside.

My Paper Sky

By Douglas Butler

An uplifting anthem of escape and imagination with an immediately memorable, chant-like chorus ("This is my paper sky"). The lyric translates the joy of finding peace in a story into a cathartic, high-energy hook. Excellent for Indie Pop, Uplifting Pop/Rock, or Anthemic Festival tracks.

A Vow of Blood and Bone

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This song is loosely based on the poem Christabel by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I had so much fun writing "She Walks the Graveyard" that I decided to create one with an even more Gothic theme. I found an old poem which I had, at first, intended to update for modern times but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to keep the story, let alone modernize it. I love the Gothic theme of the poem, rich with moonlit woods, spectral presences, and ambiguous evil. However, as I started writing it, the more I wanted to twist the tale into something completely different. I hope you enjoy reading these lyrics when we enter into the season of pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and hobgoblins, or just whenever the mood strikes.

tired of pain

By Laura Spendlingwimmer

I wrote this song after I broke up with my ex boyfriend - I was trying so hard on this relationship and I really wanted it to work but somehow I was the only one who was fighting - after the breakup I was so down and sad and heartbroken because I just wanted a love that lasts and that is real and this is what the song is about - I doubted myself being enough

Exit Interview with God

By Dawn Wilson

It has always disturbed me how some parents, children, or friends can calmly accept an idea that their loved ones might burn for an ETERNITY while they walk the streets of gold, playing harps, or whatever. It’s sad that so many millions of people cling to the cruellest, most horrendous god belief because they are afraid of hell. You have to be some kind of monster, yourself, to truly worship a god that would have created eternal torment for finite crimes. Especially, the crime of disbelief. If I actually believed for one moment that…wait, I honestly did believe it. For three years, from the age of 12 to 15, I was tormented by the idea of my family being tortured forever and ever. Their only crime? Disbelief. I was willing to suffer that same fate because the idea of a heaven without them was unthinkable to me. When I left the church, I fully believed I would go to hell and I didn’t care because I was done worshipping a monster.

High-Achiever

A look inside the life of a “perfect” overachiever who’s mastered the art of smiling through pressure, even as their dreams fade and the mask gets harder to hold up.
