Sing Me to Sleep

(Brian Hendrix)

A song told from the perspective of both a man and a woman. A man describing the woman, and the woman's request to be sang to while falling asleep. Pretty simplistic concept but enough room to have fun trying to expand on the imagery within a short window.

The raindrops on the window Play a rhythmic melody As weighted eyelids falling heavy Under the images you've seen Your brain is drifting, body sinking But you still need one thing Turn and peak and softly whisper Some nighttime request to me You say (Chorus) Sing me to sleep In a voice that's soft and deep A song you wrote just for me That'll bring about sweet dreams Run your fingers through my hair As I let go of woes and cares Drift off and ride on a moonbeam Once you... Sing me to sleep My lips rub 'gainst your earlobe As I lean in close to you A whole world full of chaos But only peace here in this room If my sigh don't say I love you Then I hope my breath will do I can feel your smile surround me As I warble out a tune When you say (Chorus)

Hey, Comet

By Brian Hendrix

I got to thinking about seeing Halley's Comet when I was just a kid, and then wondering if I would live long enough to see it come back 'round again. This is just a simple folk song about a comet and how a person wonders about their relationship in the universe relative to the comet's.

Sang Like Elvis

By Brian Hendrix

Far and away, one of the best I ever wrote, and I have no idea where I even came up with the idea. A song jumped into my head during the middle of a power outage in a thunderstorm, and I kept wondering "Where have I heard that song before?" Turns out, I hadn't. It was just playing in my head, so I wrote it. A gift from the thunder, maybe. About a guy telling a story of his uncle who used to be a popular Elvis impersonator for a living. I'm in love with this song. I'm hesitant to list it here. I really like how the first verse drops clues but doesn't flat-out say it, then the chorus is mainly Elvis popular song titles that I tied in together. I happen to think it's clever and catchy, but I'm biased.
