The Right Foot

(Brian Hendrix)

The colloquial, catchy phrase people love to use is the "wrong foot," suggesting a bad first step into something that doesn't turn out well. Well, what if you got off on the right foot? Imagine how better things could be.

Hey, baby, if you're reading this You'll know I'm gone for good You were one step out the door And I guess I beat you to it I jumped in with both feet And I never even looked My decision to walk out The best step I ever took (Chorus) Yeah, I'm off on the right foot Not sure if you heard me First step of my brand new journey One giant leap for my kind I'm off on the right foot Yeah, baby, it's the right foot Now there's nothing left A rough road ahead but I'm not scared I'm alright this time I got off on the right foot And no lady could compete with this The air is freedom in my face The first step that I took right About time I found my place The world all seems fresh and new Blank pages, a new book Time to write my story down Maybe a song with a catchy hook (Chorus) Am I crazy to have started this Now I'm out here on my own But the truth is, where I was Wasn't a house, much less a home Leaving was the only way To get back what you had took Though my feet get sore and tired I don't regret not staying put (Chorus)

Hang with You

By Brian Hendrix

Liked a girl once. Thought she was awesome. She wanted to be friends. I just wanted a chance to hang out with her. Wrote this for her. Turns out, she wasn't awesome. Such is life. The song's good, though, at least. I consider it a top 20.

When the Lights Are Off

Another song I consider one of my babies, definitely in my top 20 list. I reckon I oughta start posting the goods here. This one's just about loving. Simple enough. Two people right for each other, that burning passion.

Second Fiddle

Not a big story behind this one. One of those songs that you wake up at 4a.m. to write because it's stuck in your head. I always imagined Chris Stapleton's voice carrying this one. Pretty self-explanatory as to what the song means.

When I'm Drinking

By Brian Hendrix

This is a song I wrote after meeting Kaya Jones, formerly of the Pussycat Dolls, when she told me she wanted to break into the country music genre. After writing and sending this to her, she instead decided to opt to stick with her pop career, though she did claim she liked the song. It's written from the perspective of a woman who realizes that the only time she regrets breaking up with her lover is when she's drinking and lonely. When she's sober, she's fine - a problem a lot of us have.

Der erste plattdeutsche Songtext hier muss natürlich ein Seemannslied, ein Shanty, sein. Der Text schildert das Leben an Bord eines Segelschiffes.

Power Outage

By Karianne Gabaldon

This song is about a marriage in which the wife is abusive. The husband had finally had enough and packed up the kids and got out of the toxic situation. Then the wife begs for them back. What happens next?... you’ll have to find that out yourself.

Welt in Flammen

By Nadine Schulze
