The lyrics relate to some of the crazy things that go on in our world, from shootings, to mass shootings, individuals being imprisoned because they speak out against the countries leader. Old people in care homes with no chance against Covid-19. Presidents inciting insurrections, despots who could fire nuclear weapons if he has a bad day. China wanting to impose control over Hong Kong and Taiwan. It is never ending and through it all we survive.

The lyrics describe a woman who is agonizingly in a deep downward depression. She relates her depression to that of someone who is drowning, it causes her further panic attacks, fear, and hopelessness. It is a spiral that may end in taking her own life.
