Mental Illness Rocks (You)

(Isaac Wragg)

No surprise here--this song is about battling mental illness, and how it can absolutely shake-up one's life. The song is contemplative but aggressive, an anthem of venting against the illness while encouraging others to keep fighting. It also dives into the difficulty of normal life and how hard it can be to communicate with others who don't struggle the same way. Ultimately, there is always hope--even when you fall--and the strength you need is never as far away as it seems.

[Verse 1] Isn't it weird how much we change In 7th grade, I could smile all day Isn't it weird when life looks gray I used to think I wouldn't see today [Pre-chorus A] Can you imagine But I don't need to It can get so dark I think I'm see-through [Chorus] Mental illness rocks It's hard like that It's a mountain It's a valley And it takes your past Mental illness rocks But don't be sad They're all watching They're all busy So don't say it's bad [Verse 2] Isn't it weird how far you fell One day you're good, the next is hell Isn't it weird when you're doing well You're so afraid that you're a shell [Pre-chorus B] I've seen the bottom Do you know the view But I'll get back up I hope you do too [Chorus] Mental illness rocks It's hard like that It's a mountain It's a valley And it takes your past Mental illness rocks But don't be sad XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXX XXXX XXX XXXXXXXX X XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXX X XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XX XXX XXXX XXXX X XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXX X XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX X XXXXXXXX XXXX X XXXXXX XXX XX XXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXX XX XXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXX XXXX XXX

Did You Know I've Been Gone?

By Isaac Wragg

The title of this song captures its essence. Sometimes you have to leave behind those who only see what they think of you instead of who you are. But sometimes, that also means they never notice when you've disengaged, much less when you've departed. It can take a confrontation to find any consolation, but DYKIBG is about the break-away that needs to happen before reconciliation can be realized.

Elder

By Isaac Wragg

Elder is a poetic perspective on a young person's connection to an older relative. The language is vague but very intentional, seeking to capture a sobering phase of life that's nigh-impossible to replicate once you leave it. The words encourage you to experience them slowly and consider what they're saying before they're gone--just like the kind, loving elders we all hopefully have in our own lives.

History in the Making

By Isaac Wragg

The year of 2020 was supposed to be big, full of potential, a time of improvement! What everyone received instead was large doses of isolation, uncertainty, and excessive quiet. History in the Making is about that time--doing as much as possible yet never enough, while contemplating the unique, historic nature of those days.

CELESTIAL

By Isaac Wragg

Romance is an over-done topic in songs today, but that doesn't mean it can't still be captivating or written about in a unique way. This song seeks to combine the vast beauty of space with the close beauty of love to create an image of something grand yet intimate. There is an interstellar feeling to finding 'the one', and CELESTIAL describes how expansive and humbling that is at the same time.

Plan

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about me, and my inability to stick to a plan. I'm great at making plans, but I'm also good at diverting myself from that plan I think if you're going to do something like that you have to have another plan in place, and I rarely ever did today I try to live my life differently and if I make a plan I stick to it if it's not working I reassess make another plan and stick to that one I admire people who can stick to a plan and I think it's part of being a mature person.

In einer Welt, in der man quantitativ konsumiert

By Ann-Kathrin Betz
