Strange Girl
Hi there. Thanks for looking in. Yea, so this song is a kind of play on the word ‘strange’: to be a stranger and just plain strange. Bars full of strangers and strange people, all looking for a bit of ‘strange’. UK slang for a hook up with a stranger.

There’s a strange girl in town,
I saw her in a bar.
As I went to go to talk to her,
I saw her leaving, in a car.
I returned there the next night,
hoping to see her face
She never did appear,
but I was told her name was Grace.
I’ve lived in this town all my life,
a lot of strange girls live here,
but none seem quite as strange as her.
As I eased into my Thursday,
with Grace upon my mind,
I knew if I looked hard enough,
one day I would turn blind
Strange Alice and strange Debbie,
the two came sauntering my way.
I passed them both in silence
as I had nothing new to say.
I could always ask about Grace,
the strange new girl in town,
I wonder how they would react,
to hear their stock is down?
I’ve lived in this town all my life,
a lot of strange girls here,
but none seem quite as strange as her,
can’t get her off my mind.
The week came to an end,
it ended in that bar,
another Friday night
disappearing into a beer filled jar.
Looking around I’m hoping to find,
the one, the girl,
who can rescue me from the grind.
Grace has now gone,
do I wish I knew where?
By the end of the night,
another strange girl
will become my obsession
and I will hardly care.
I’ve lived in this town all my life,
I’ve fucked all the strange girls who populate this place
but she’s the one who got away,
my strange, my darling Grace.
