White Noise
"Falling out of love" is a topic that is often overlooked in favor of other themes, mainly "being in love" or the period of recovery after falling out of love. The reasons why people stop loving one another are limitless; perhaps one of them have changed irreversibly to the point that they can no longer connect, they have fallen in love with someone else, or simply because they bring out the worst in one another. The lyrics here highlight the small cracks in a former couple's relationship, and how the ever increasing numbers of such mistakes had steadily outgrown the feelings they had for one another. The lyrics also bring to light the possibility of falling out of love despite finally being able to understand the other person's feelings and why they behaved the way they did. The couple may have at last truly understood one another, but it's clear that falling out of love doesn't wait for second chances.

We've always met at dawn
Because we're ghosts at any other hour
Your first words shouldn't be sorry
And your last shouldn't be how've you been
Our first moments are too late
Kiss me when I'm just about to leave
You're angry from the start
And become happy when we part
Me saying you're reckless
Never stopped you before
But now you're packing all your guilt
And talking about love
With your easy smile, easy eyes
And the hands that caused all these cracks
You try to stop me from crying
You push dead leaves over our mess
Saying it's our mistake
But you know you're too late
All I hear now is static, it's just noise
We're falling out of love today
The earrings you bought the day before
I'll keep them standing by
In case I need to hear your voice
Whispering that you want a second chance
The T-shirt that you want
With your favorite lyrics down its side
I've bought it without knowing what it means
But now I know it's about me
"Falling into madness
I'll take you with me
Even if it means we'll be alone
And you and I'll hate me"
Me saying you're reckless
Never stopped you before
But now you're packing all your guilt
And talking about love
With your easy smile, easy eyes
And the hands that caused all these cracks
You try to stop me from crying
You push dead leaves over our mess
Saying it's our mistake
But you know you're too late
All I hear now is static, it's just noise
We're falling out of love today
Your words are practised in front of a mirror
But I know sorrow when I hear it
Your last words mean the most to me
But you're reckless, and I decide carelessly
But we know we're too late
All we hear now is static, it's just noise
We're falling out of love today
And slowly, just slowly
Our white noise will go away
