Help me up, take my hand I need a transfer to the promised land Hold my stick, damn these feet I’m meeting Jenny up on Eddy Street Parole man says I’m free to go She said she’d wait about an hour or so If it wasn’t for the tourists We’d be there by now Help me up, take my roll I’ve been sleeping in a box off ‘Polk’ The ground was hard, the weather warm There’s no one here whose gonna give me harm Parole man says I’m free to go She said she’d wait about an hour or so If it wasn’t for the tourists We’d be there by now Help me up, take my side I had to sell my soul to get this ride I missed Jenny, she wasn’t seen Where she was or where she might have been Parole man says I’m free to go Where she’s gone I guess I’ll never know If it wasn’t for the tourists We’d be there by now On the ride I thought I’d won the game After the ride I don’t feel the same Riding on the ‘19’

Crowd

By Clairine T.

A relationship between two people with vastly different personalities and perspectives doesn't always work out well. When people are too different, there could never be a middle ground, and a huge rift is created that could not be crossed by themselves or anyone else for that matter. You could say that that kind of relationship is toxic, impossible to fix, that they should go their separate ways before things get worse between them. But when those two people are each other's closest companion, the fear of having no one else by their side often overrides how huge that rift is. Nothing could come out of it, but they only have each other. Though they aren't close and don't understand one another like how friends, or family, should, they are still marginally better than strangers, and sometimes that alone is enough to make them stay in that permanent stalemate.
