One chance
This is a lyric about a woman that I fell in love with but she's a little gun shy. She's been hurt more than once by past relationships, and it seems like she might compare me to some guys that are in her past. All I'm asking for is one chance to prove to her that I'm not like anybody else that she's met in her past and been out with. I'm My own man, with values, integrity, and a track record of keeping my promise. All I need is that one chance to prove it, which is easier said than done. It's really hard sometimes to break through the walls of someone that's been hurt in the past in a relationship. But, if I'm unable to open up her heart and break through those walls, then I must turn and walk away. I know she's fearful, all I can do is recognize that, and hopefully prove to her if she gives me that chance, that I am different.

Right from the start
I fell in love with you
I couldn't believe it
My dream had come true
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
I know you lack trust
And that you've been hurt
Because of the last guy
Who treated you like dirt
Baby, please don't compare me
To anyone in your past
Just give me one chance
To show my love for you will last
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
I promise to make you laugh
And never make you cry
I'll pledge my love to you
Until the day I die
So please don't compare me
To anyone in your past
Just give me one chance
To show my love for you will last
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
So why don't you stay
Instead of running away
Are you scared
I won't always be there
