Someone like you
This lyric is a Rock ballad about a love that never came, a love that was a missed opportunity. I'm sure we've all had times in our lives where we wanted to ask someone to go out with us but couldn't find the courage or whatever to do it. This lyric reminded me of a time when I was young, in high school, and I went out with this girl who I knew like me and I liked her but I couldn't even give her a kiss because I was too afraid. The underlying premise to this lyric is fear. A lot of us live in fear of so many things, and that prevents us from moving forward. It's okay to have fear, just don't let it stop you. In this lyric that's what the fear did

I never got to hold your hand
I never got to lie with you in the sand
I never got to kiss your face
Before you left for another place
I was too afraid to ask
To me it was a tall task
To you I'll always be drawn
But now my chance is gone
For so long
I thought of someone like you
And when you came along
It was too good to be true
For so long
I thought of someone like you
Things went so wrong
I couldn't follow through
I remember the day
When I first saw you
You walked by and said hello
And I didn't know what to do
My dream girl
Standing right in front of me
I was too shy to talk
The fear was a reality
For so long
I thought of someone like you
And when you came along
It was too good to be true
For so long
I thought of someone like you
Things went so wrong
I couldn't follow through
Even though we connected
I didn't feel the spark
It was quite unexpected
My brain was in the dark
I sometimes wonder
What if took the chance and asked
It's too late now
I can't have it back
For so long
I thought of someone like you
And when you came along
It was too good to be true
For so long
I thought of someone like you
Things went so wrong
I couldn't follow through
