Dystopian Nonsense
This piece is about how blind we are to see that the authors that were terrified about where technology might land us has landed us here already. We live in a dystopian society and there's nothing we can do about it now...

Verse 1:
"A boot stamping on a human face forever"
The gov ain't dumb they're beyond clever
Threats to retaliate if we ever endeavour
To fight the power like a sniper in a tower
They can pick us off one by one
But still got the power to unleash a bomb
We got the numbers but we weigh a feather
They're the hunters, they've got the leather
The epitome of steel dominating field
Cos an attack on us, to them, is leisure
Creativity stomped on, no more rhymes
That's the future, change of the times
It's an obvious radical change of our lives
and what makes it worse is we vote for the guys
It's not even spilt milk it's lumpy and rotten
And we chose it but it's like we've forgotten
Verse 2:
Screens, screens filled with screams
Ignoring the screams outside our screens
It seems we believe reality is a myth
We just keep on scrolling through all the shit
Keep on strolling through all the mud
Till we've had enough and we sink into the tub
Slit wrists just trying to escape the prison
We locked ourselves in, we heard but didn't listen
The warnings were there like sirens screaming
But we didn't want to wake up so we stayed dreaming
Pause, take a second of silence
Take a second to hear the sounds of violence
The sounds of despair, weakness and strength
The sound of some people taking their last breath
Now imagine if the zombies looked up just once
How the horror of life would hit all our guts
Verse 3:
Can't blame the system we use for enlisting
No point in complaining or even resisting
Cos then someone else makes the deciding vote
and changes our life to the point we can't cope
The predictions of the past seem to be right
added surveillance, mistrust and the like
post-truth, fake news, shadow without light
we slipped, fell and didn't really fight
we went from private to public lives
social media means no more need for spies
we know when they laugh, cries, jumps and dies
and the cherry on top is that it's normalised
when do we say enough is enough?
when do we band together and put our fists up?
when do we see that 1984
is a reality knocking on our door
