Jeannie was an alien;
She fell to earth from Sirius,
From planet Psychedelia
With the rainbow-colored sky.
Jeannie walked on country roads;
She loved how big the earth was.
Though everything was bare and brown,
She made it seem like gold.
She stored her blood in soda straws;
She had to eat just once a month,
And she got high on strawberries
When we went to see the farm.
Her voice was popsicles in June;
Her skin was strange, her hair was blue
—I’d like to fly away with you
To your planet in the sky.
Jeannie was an alien...
Jeannie was an alien,
So she flew home to Sirius,
To planet Psychedelia
With the rainbow-colored sky;
And I’d at least have photographs
(If the government would give them back!)
But the stars are calling night by night,
And I remember well.
One day we’ll walk on different roads
Through the turquoise corridors of home,
And we will drink from violet springs,
And lie on rosy moss.
‘Cause when we kissed she changed my flesh,
My bones were bent towards Sirius;
Now I hear Psychedelia
Every time I see the sky.
‘Cause now I am an alien...
