Fixer Upper
This was written as part of a songwriting contest on a songwriting forum. I tossed something together real quick based on the theme, but I really like how this turned out, about a man who was a "fixer upper" but a good woman took care of him.

I was a little beaten up and shaky
The floors were scuffed, the paint was chipped
And the pipes leaked
But then she came along, thought she could mend me
She bought a little fixer-upper and got to work
(Chorus)
And now it feels like home
Where she belongs
She worked her fingers to the bone
Clearing out the junk and fixin' it up
And hanging pictures on the wall
That little fixer-upper became her dream house
All that hard work paid off
She turned this old beat-up shack to a mansion
Clean, cozy rooms, looks and feels all new
It's in fashion
The effort she put in, still hard to imagine
She took a little fixer-upper and labored away
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
Even rumors it was haunted
By the ghosts of lovers past
All the demons she exorcised
Ran off, scared to come back
(Chorus)
