Not All Men

(Dawn Isbell Wilson)

In this song, I address the toxic, harmful type of man that many women come across from time to time. And sadly, many of these women get involved with them. Set to AI-generated music and visuals, the song is not intended to belittle men as I happen to have a loving, devoted husband of 42 years. I have two brothers who have never been and never could be men who belittle women. This song is not a generalization of men, but a written with only the desire to encourage women to be cautious and aware of the signs of this type of man, warning that his actions will never live up to his inflated sense of self-importance. I also offer a message of hope, advising women to seek out men who are loving, honest, and secure in themselves, rather than falling for those who seek to manipulate and control.

Verse
He thinks he’s a king he’s just a clown
His goal in life is to put us down
Women watch out for the frail ego man
He embodies everything that we can’t stand

Chorus
He’s a villain, he’s a stalker
He’s a moron, he’s a gawker
His ego is broken you are not his token
He’s a baby, he’s a fool
He is nothing but a tool
But listen he’s as dangerous as hell

Verse
He acts like steel, but he caves when pushed
He talks real loud, tries to get you hooked
Women watch out for the guy of this type
His actions will never live up to his hype

He’s a villain, he’s a stalker
He’s a moron, he’s a gawker
His ego is broken you are not his token
He’s a baby, he’s a fool
He is nothing but a tool

Echoes in the Walls

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

I wrote this song to round out my Halloween trilogy. This was inspired by a recent story I read about The Chelsea Hotel. I was actually looking to write a story about the haunted Cecil Hotel in San Francisco. I pivoted to The Chelsea because of its deep connection with writers, painters, photographers, poets, and musicians. And, of course, because of the reports of haunted rooms, hallways and elevators. The Chelsea Hotel is considered by some to be one of the most haunted places in all of New York City. Many notable artists, including writers like Mark Twain and Arthur Miller, artists like Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol, and musicians like Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan, and many others, have stayed there over the decades since first opened its doors. According to eyewitness accounts, spirits of deceased residents still roam the hotel's halls to this day. The first ghostly appearance was said to have been a woman named Mary who hanged herself on the fifth floor. No one knows her last name or the exact circumstances of her suicide, but she is tied to the tragedy of the Titanic. Welsh poet Dylan Thomas died at the Chelsea Hotel in 1953 at just 38 years old. Perhaps the most tragic and disturbing event in the hotel's history was the 1978 murder of Nancy Spungen, the girlfriend of Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious.

A Vow of Blood and Bone

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This song is loosely based on the poem Christabel by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I had so much fun writing "She Walks the Graveyard" that I decided to create one with an even more Gothic theme. I found an old poem which I had, at first, intended to update for modern times but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to keep the story, let alone modernize it. I love the Gothic theme of the poem, rich with moonlit woods, spectral presences, and ambiguous evil. However, as I started writing it, the more I wanted to twist the tale into something completely different. I hope you enjoy reading these lyrics when we enter into the season of pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and hobgoblins, or just whenever the mood strikes.

She Walks the Graveyard

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

I wanted to write a song for the season of ghosts and graveyards. Something that felt familiar but with a slightly fresh take. I started in the hope of capturing the essence of a great ghost story in song the way Alfred Noyes captured it in poetry with his haunting classic, "The Highwayman". In my mind, I conjured up a Victorian era graveyard: A full moon, weathered, moss-covered stones, winding paths guarded by gargoyles and broken walls I called forth the spirits of Halloween and placed within that setting a ghost and a grieving figure, searching night after night for their lost love. But who is the ghost and who was left behind?

Keepers of the Flame

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This uplifting anthem celebrates the power of community and the enduring spark of hope. Through vivid imagery of rivers, forests, cities, and skies, the lyrics weave together a journey from darkness into light. The refrain, “We are the keepers of the flame”, becomes a rallying cry for unity, resilience, and shared purpose. Whether sung in a sanctuary, on a stage, or around a campfire, the song invites listeners to stand together, carry hope forward, and let their light shine for all to see.

tired of pain

By Laura Spendlingwimmer

I wrote this song after I broke up with my ex boyfriend - I was trying so hard on this relationship and I really wanted it to work but somehow I was the only one who was fighting - after the breakup I was so down and sad and heartbroken because I just wanted a love that lasts and that is real and this is what the song is about - I doubted myself being enough
