[Verse 1]
Cameras catching
Flashing, they’re only capturing
Walking mannequins
Flat and paper thin
Two-dimensional figures
Taking surface pictures
At the bare minimum
Naked, no scratches
A face in person can show the world again
Three-dimensional happiness
Out of a thousand words, that’s the one missing
That’s the one out of a thousand
A word that’s worth it
A definition that has meaning
Living in a carnival world that needs it
Running on nothing,
Human machines depleted
Just another word said for repeating
‘Cause it’s a carnival out there
Constantly feeling like I’m at a fair
Why am I standing in the wrong line?
Waiting entertainment, but I don’t know where
Been behind in the back for a long, long, time
A stationary object sitting stagnant
Getting nowhere

[Chorus]
And then something unexpected happens
The mechanical attractions begin collapsing
Breaking down, crushing fragments
Bolts tear loose, swings unscrew
They used to fly
Meeting with gravity’s feet, metal strings untie
Hitting the ground, and I’m a bystander
Amber eyes like a bald eagle staring around
At the ride of life I thought was real
So dizzy, I can’t see, spinning
Robotic pieces shutting down
Leaving an aftertaste not so sweet
And I carry around
Something half blue, half pink
Feelings eating me
They’re too deep for this carnival world
Made-up of cotton candy personalities
Lacking substance
Fading out in sugar-coated swirls
I’m seeing in more depth that’s getting deeper
Carnival rides and cotton candy people
[Verse 2]
Talk is cheaper
Words mechanically weaker
All I can do is look to
Cherry skies
Audience disappearing
Blank faces, machine-like lies
Don’t know how to behave
When a storm awakens their night
The ride of life
A delusion too real now
Spinning me, spinning me
Making me dizzy, I’m dizzy
In robotic pieces, I’m shutting down
It’s the ride of life
A fairground getting weaker
Making me weaker
Surrounded by carnival rides
And cotton candy people
Leaving an aftertaste not so sweet
And I carry around
Something half blue, half pink
Feelings eating me
They’re too deep for this carnival world
Made-up of cotton candy personalities
Lacking substance
Fading out in sugar-coated swirls
I’m seeing in more depth that’s getting deeper
Carnival rides and cotton candy people
