Unbroken
I continue to be amazed and inspired by the courage and perseverance of the Ukrainian people. Fighting and dying, Street by street, yard by yard, on their homeland for the right to self-determination and the very freedom we take for granted. I shouldn’t be surprised. I married one!
For my wife, Adela, and the gallant people of Ukraine and the late Richard D. Hanusey, EdD.

You tore it up
You burned it down
You tried to take it all away
But times have changed
I’m much stronger now
Can’t you see I’m not afraid
No one believes
Your lies and threats
You still dream of yesterday
No matter what
You do or say
I’m unbroken
Unbroken I will stay
Look in my eyes
What you see will surprise you
I’m more alive than I ever was before
One day you’ll realize
That freedom never dies
And the truth will always be worth fighting for
And if you had a soul
You’d see that mine is whole
But yours is broken
Yours is broken
No one believes
Your lies and threats
You belong to yesterday
You can’t go on
One day you’ll find
Your kind will all soon fade away
You tore it up
You burned it down
You tried to take it all away
Now I’m stronger than you ever were
Don’t you see I’m not afraid
I’m unbroken
No matter
What you do or say
I can’t be broken
I’m unbroken
I’ll always be that way
I’m unbroken
Unbroken I will stay
