Natural Beauty

(Stanley Chris)

The beauty industry is huge in today's society. Girls and women particularly are sucked deeply into it, investing in a lot of things to enhance their beauty from simple efforts like make-up to rather extreme ones like plastic surgery. But, how necessary are these things? Have we lost perspective? What really defines true beauty? The song addresses this and attempts to let those who feel uneasy about how they look know that they can be beautiful the way they are; one doesn't have to fit into the mold that society has created for them in order to find acceptance and happiness. This vice-like conformity has injured the esteems of many a victim, and keeps luring more and more of its unsuspecting customers into its trap every day, especially with the increasingly pervasive influence of media, both digital and social. There's more to beauty than the outward appearance, and we ought to focus more on that inner beauty that comes from the heart as the Bible admonishes in 1 Peter 3:3-4.

Way I Look

By Stanley Chris

The song is about the struggles couples have in relationships with regard to the insecurities the partners grapple with about how they look. The guy acknowledges that he has certain odd peculiarities about his looks that others would easily recognize. The two of them have never had a conversation around it and, as a result, the guy is only left with speculations about what exactly goes on in the girl's mind. She has proven time and time again that she is committed to the relationship, but from the way she looks at the guy, it is evident that she notices what everyone else sees. Does she do that because it is just an obvious situation or does she secretly have concerns that she'd rather downplay or keep to herself? Some of them are highlighted in Verse 2: the concern over other people's opinions and what they will say, worries about the kids inheriting some of the limitations that he has, etc. The Bridge is the guy's stand as it were; quoting Shakespeare, he states that "things without remedy should be without regard." It's all about genetics, and he finds solace in the fact that he didn't choose the family he was born into and thus had no choice on the matter.

The song is about the party life of a young couple who are in a dating relationship, a period when they have a lot of time to have fun and enjoy a lot of the things that young couples like to do, in this case going out to social places to unwind and have fun. The guy has social anxiety and doesn't like parties, while the girl does. Despite the fact that he is antisocial, he enjoys a drink often, unlike the girl who drinks less frequently. On this night, instead of going out to a club or bar, he begs the girl to let them stay indoors, saying "I will be good I can promise ya" which implies that he has a wild side, especially when the liquor kicks in. He has plans to take the evening enjoying the company of his love, a time which usually ends in some really intimate moments between the two that tend to get a little crazy.

Stirred

By Stanley Chris

The song is a simple expression of love. The verses capture the wild emotions that the persona experiences as a result of the passion shared with the lover. It's "a fire in my heart burning like all the suns in the universe" and "a breeze deep within blowing like all the winds in the galaxies", both of which capture the extremes of these emotions. They are "stirred by her kiss and her touch", referring to moments when the two share physical intimacy. That aside, she also has "sexy eyes" which the persona has adopted as her pet name as seen in the second part of the Chorus. The Chorus itself is a confession by the persona. Fully convinced that the lover is the one he is meant to spend the rest of his life with, he boldly declares that he'd want to take his last breath by her, and promises to hold tightly to her while their "worlds collide", a picture of the different battles they may face being two people coming from two very different backgrounds and having entirely different personalities. As they merge their hearts and lives together, the friction that arises will not be enough to quench his love for her. The confession continues in the Bridge where the persona tells his darling that he loves all of her, and all she does, calling it a moment of truth when he pours out his heart to her in those simple but powerful lines.

Angel In The Fire

By Stanley Chris

The song is a poetic expression of love for someone the persona thinks is the most special person to them. In Verse 1 he refers to her as "a woman like no other" (line 2) and in Verse 2 as "a woman who is more than gold" (line 2). She is a woman who has embraced him the way he is, with all his flaws and he terms her "a place where my demons are overcome" (Verse 1 line 2), and "a place where my failures are overthrown (Verse 2 line 2). She is a shoulder to lean on and is presently available during tough times as captured in the Bridge. The Chorus employs the use of Biblical allusion by referencing the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and how they were supernaturally delivered from the fiery furnace by an angel of God. She apparently has an infectious smile that calms nerves with an unusual ease (Chorus line 2). The last two lines of the Chorus express the persona's commitment to abide by her until death does them apart in keeping with the vows the two had earlier taken during their wedding.

Monster's Fed

By Karlo Čavlović

A song about a relationship full of turmoil and lies. Sometimes these lies can get into your head to the point that they become closer to the truth than they ever should be while the other person is the one who's actually destroying the relationship.

Slipping away

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about the backslide into addiction, knowing it, being sick and tired of it, and wanting to do something about it. It's about wanting to find some strength so I don't continue to fall. If anybody's a hiker, they'll know that hiking in the fall, after most of the leaves have fallen is very difficult when you're descending a Mountain. There's also the shadows that make it tough to see the rock that might be exposed or even sometimes how wet the leaves are. Because there's not as much light in the woods my shadows look longer, and cover up more ground. It's snowing all of this information, and having the experience of falling, that I have to change some of the things that I do when I hike and also some of the things that I do in life to keep me from slipping and falling. The more my life keeps slipping away, the harder it is to keep getting back up.
