Natural Order

(Brian Hendrix)

This is a song I wrote inspired by my father, who passed away a year ago. I wrote this a few months after he passed. The way I wrapped my head around it finally was reaching the realization that this is simply the "natural order" of life. We love. We laugh. But mostly, we lose. We lose what we have and what we gain, and it's something that unifies us. As divided as we are in this world, we never seem to take the time to realize that we're all going through the same stuff. We're all at the mercy of the natural order. Country song from a male perspective.

I look in the mirror thinkin' of the past Something we all have in common We live and love and laugh and lose, and keep on going Spend most time solving our problems (Chorus) That just seems to be the natural order Once held her close, now give away my daughter Daddy stood over me when I got hurt Now over him, lay flowers on the Earth It's just the result of living a life Farther we go, the more we leave behind Love hard and fast, because it all gets shorter Yeah, that's the natural order Life goes on by then everything ahead Ends up there in your rear view And we'll all both gain and we'll lose with time, in time Something we're all going through (Chorus) (Bridge) Take your time to enjoy everything you got See what you love, give it a closer look Summer and winters come around much sooner Then pages close on your book (Chorus x2)

I Didn't Come Here to Talk

By Brian Hendrix

There are countless love songs out there. Though this is more about a man who admits that he wants a certain thing from a woman. He doesn't mind all that talking and feeling and emotional stuff; just save it for tomorrow. He has other things on his mind tonight. We can all relate to that feeling. It's a relatively slow-paced song that's quintessential country.

Blade of Grass

By Brian Hendrix

This is definitely in the vein of a folk song. There's no chorus per se, just a guitar break between verses. But it's basically a message to people who aren't happy in their lives. Just imagine you were something else then, and see that everything you can think of being has its own environment and has its own existential questions of its being. The message isn't complex, and the song flows well. It has a little "Time in a Bottle" feel by Jim Croce, for reference. The "rose" reference is my personal favorite.

Needs a You

By Brian Hendrix

This is written from a female's perspective, a girl who's always wanted that fairy tale prince but ended up jaded and believing it wasn't possible. Then she does find the man of her dreams and speaks about him in a very poetic way, likening him to a hero, suggesting that every woman who's seeking love "needs a you."

Like A Thief

By Brian Hendrix

This is strictly metaphorical. I do not endorse people stealing anything! That being said, I thought this was a very unique angle to take on a man who really desires a woman and wants to let her know that he's going to win her heart, even if he has to steal it. Very unique and catchy.

Dies ist ein besinnlicher, doch auch spiritueller Text, man versteht sich oft auch ohne Worte, empfindet eine tiefe seelische Verbindung zum Partner, einen Gleichklang auf vielen Ebenen!

Why am I cold?

By Steven Mailer

A warrior tasked with defending the last of mankind begins to lose his mind under the battering of constant warfare, in his madness he decides the only way to save mankind is to upgrade them into a cybernetic race of warriors. This song is intended to be an ode to many different versions of this concept littered throughout science fiction.
