Songs About Women

(Brian Hendrix)

For male singer-songwriters, likely in every genre of music, we find that a lot of our songs are about women. It just came to me to write a song about how there are so many songs about women. I think it came out pretty catchy and poignant in places. And it's true: No matter your situation, there's a song about women for you.

Some are cheatin', some are lovin' Some are kissin' and a huggin' Some are dark and some are dreamy Some just rhyme about nothin' Some are real, some are fake Some end early, some run late Some get stuck in your head And make you think about fate (Chorus) These songs about women And how we forgive 'em On your radio waves, every second of the day If she's loyal or untrue There's a song wrote for you To make you happy or bitter To see red or feel blue There's a few hits and whole bunch of lemons All these songs about women Some speak to you and some don't Some you like and some you won't Some that make you sing along Some annoy you with the tone Some are for you, some are not Some speak to what you got Some remind you what you lost Could be cool or summer hot (Chorus) (Bridge) Loving and leaving and longing and dreaming Deceiving, believing, she's in there somewhere Holding and hoping, eyes shut widely open If you need to forget or to tell her you care (Chorus)

You're Drinkin' Tonight

By Brian Hendrix

A song about a woman who made the choice to leave her man, and the man warned her that she would be lonely and regret it. The story is basically that he knows she drinks to forget the memories but can't. Kind of just flipping the old country trope about the "Man always drinks" on its head.

Only Love

By John Clayton

Lessons learned, new ways of thinking or is it simply a case of letting go of all the ideas, thoughts and issues that we have been subjected to from various sources all our lives. As we go through life and begin to shed the unnecessary we hopefully come to a place of peace of mind and soul and let's us understand what our journey in life is truly about.
