Things You Cannot Have
Politicians preach that taking our freedoms away as Americans is good for the entire world who get to live here, and so the path to equity for all humanity is for me and you not being allowed to speak, think or act how we choose. I don't agree. Big disagree.

The times have changed now pretty good, I'd say
While the old men sit and speak of those old days
When the flag still stood for something
And politicians weren't on the take
Every penny of your dollar earned
To give away, squander and waste
Yeah, the times have changed now pretty good, I'd say
(Chorus)
But you can't buy my freedom
No, you can't buy my truth
Just like I can't buy anymore time
Or buy back any of my youth
You can't have my spirit
No, you can't take my voice
It's loud and proud, will root you out
I still get to make my choice
You might think you have the power
You might think you have a chance
But these things in life that belong to me
Are just things you cannot have
You can't say what's on your mind, you'll see
We're shrinking in from sea to polluted sea
And we used to be a country
We used to stand for one and all
Divided we all stand today
And in unison we'll fall
No, you can't say what's on your mind, you'll see
(Chorus)
They haven't locked our spirits up, not yet
But that's what they're all coming for next
Because a man who holds on hope for
A sunnier and better day
He ain't with progression
And he just gets in the way
And they haven't locked our spirits up, not yet
(Chorus)
